Finally Back into the Swing of Things…

Okay, okay… I know that it has simply been TOO LONG since Colie or I last posted, but we have been doing A LOT and been around EVERYWHERE!

Last we had a chance to update everyone, Colie and I had just gotten back from a “Pseudo Pre-Honeymoon” at her parent’s then “Soon-to-be” home. It was amazing, and brought us even closer together as it was our first real grown-up vacation with just the two of us. Coming home from that was a bit of a drag, but both of us had things we needed to get done (like work – ugh!). However, once back home I’ll give you a quick run-down of what all we’ve been up to…

Trev and Dad

Colie was only home for about 48 hours before she headed back to San Diego to go spend a week with her family to watch her younger brother Trevor graduate High School then be the Maid of Honor in her BFF’s wedding. I wish I could have attended, but with the job you have to pick and choose your vacations, and I couldn’t manage the week and a half off. Colie, however LOVED it. Her brother graduated and the family celebrated in style that evening with new smart phones, wine and a fantastic family dinner. I even got to skype in from home, which was actually pretty funny on my end, but that’s another story. 🙂

Colie and the blushing bride!

Following the graduation festivities, Colie headed a bit north to Michelle’s wedding preparations. She spent almost a week with her girl which culminated in an absolutely gorgeous wedding where the Bride and her Groom said their thing and started Colie’s and my wedding season (first of five weddings) off with a bang! Everything went well, there was a great time had by all, and Colie’s fam was even able to venture up north for the ceremony and reception. I’m told it was amazing and I sent my love and thoughts there via skype later. Colie flew home the day following that and BOY was I glad to have her back. The apartment just wasn’t the same without her. I’m pretty sure my cats like her better than me now, too… but that’s beside the point. One other thing happened when Colie left San Diego that day – she said goodbye to her family home for the last time. Her family was moving away later in the summer, and Colie wouldn’t be back again before they moved, so that trip was her last time to be in HER house in San Diego. It was very personal and I don’t think she even realized how personal it would be until later on – which I’ll get to in a moment.

Whew! Okay, once Colie got back home, it was a whirlwind of a couple of weeks as she and I finished cleaning up the apartment, ran to Owasso a couple of times, and blew up around a rough megaton of explosives for the Fourth of July. No one lost any limbs, there was some EPIC homemade ice cream, and of course pina’s and margaritas. All-in-all, a very productive Fourth. Oh, and did I mention my father, brother and I took the ladies for the traditional 4th movie night to see Spider-man? Well, we did… and it was Awesome!… Just sayin’.

After the Fourth Colie and I headed back to Stillwater for a few days before I set off to the Kappa Kappa Psi Marketing and Branding Committee Meeting with the National Leadership of KKΨ and TBΣ in ORLANDO! Honestly, it was one of the best if not THE BEST and most productive committees I’ve ever been a part of – not to rag on any other committee I was ever on, but this one kinda rocked with the people that were on it. Everyone on the committee had something to do professionally with Marketing, Design and Brand-making, so it was a very educational and productive set of meetings for me. Even though I didn’t get to do anything fun in Orlando I still had a blast with the leadership folks who were there and seeing some old friends I hadn’t seen in some cases since last National Convention.

By the time I was home from Orlando, it was another couple of weeks of getting ready for Fall, which meant more design projects for me and getting the classroom ready for Nichole’s future students…
